Isolation and Characterization of a Novel Marine Bacterium Marinomonas species PT-1

Abstract

|
A marine bacterium named as Marinomonas species PT-1 was isolated as a producer of extracellular protease and chitinase. However less significant activity was evaluated in the culture supernatant, not as much as being expected its activity revealed much of wide clear zone on the skim milk agar or colloidal chitin agar solid media. Aim of this study was to characterize the bacterial stain producing both protease and chitinase with various carbon and nitrogen sources at different time of culturing. Our data demonstrate the characteristics of the strain based on 16S rDNA sequences analysis, optimal culture conditions and utilization of carbon and nitrogen sources for the production of protease and chitinase.
